2018 Collegiate Rifle

OSU and Akron Focused on Rifle Championships.

The NCAA season for collegiate rifle is really broken into two half seasons. The first half runs from September through November, then the second half of the season runs from mid-January through the first week in March. With the first half of the season completed, all teams are gearing up for the final push during the second half of the season towards the prestigious invitation to the NCAA Rifle Championships. Currently both Ohio schools are fighting the good fight. The Ohio State University has earned a outstanding ranking of #6 in the NCAA rankings. This ranking has been earned by OSU firing some exceptional scores and all but guarantees OSU will be one of the top 8 schools invited to the Championships. Further down the list sitting at #12 out of the 31 NCAA schools is The University of Akron. As you can see from the scores, Akron is within striking distance to sneak into the elusive top 8.

Coincidentally, on February 17 the Zips and OSU will go head to head at the NCAA qualifier match held on the OSU range. This promises to be an exciting match for both schools. From the various qualifier matches fired across the nation, those making the top 8 in the nation will be invited to participate in the NCAA Rifle Championships held at the Citadel in Charleston South Carolina on March 8-10, 2018.
