ORPA The Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association (ORPA) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that works to promote the education and safety of shooting sports in Ohio.
We are also the Official State Organization of the National Rifle Association; and the State Affiliated Club for the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). ORPA oversees NRA and CMP shooting activities in Ohio, sanctions State Championships and promotes the various programs of these two organizations. ORPA promotes, encourages and sponsors youth and adult training and participation in local, regional, and national level competitions for a variety of firearm disciplines.
The ORPA Board of Trustees works hard to promote youth involvement by teaching firearms safety and responsibility, as well as proficiency in the shooting disciplines. By supporting junior shooters for NRA, CMP and USA Shooting Championships we are continuing out commitment to firearms education and ensuring the future of this great sport in Ohio.
ORPA also works to promote safe shooting sports and hunting in all their forms and our member's interests in Second Amendment interests and monitor legislation that would have an impact on firearms ownership and use.

ORPA members receive Gunsmoke, which is a quarterly publication that is delivered electronically to the membership and contains articles about the sport, tips, schedules, news from member clubs, match results, and more. When members don’t have an email they may get a mailed version of Gunsmoke for a nominal fee.
ORPA is a CMP Affiliated Club. ORPA members are eligible to participate in CMP offerings. See the CMP Website for details about CMP.
ORPA is the National Rifle Association (NRA) State Association for Ohio. NRA state associations are independent of the NRA but are affiliated with and recognized by the national association. This allows ORPA to run NRA-sanctioned events which qualify shooters for NRA points.
